Welcome!

The Maternal & Child Health Section of the American Public Health Association was organized in 1921 with the mission of developing innovative and creative approaches to addressing the health needs of mothers, children and families. The membership is composed of professionals from diverse disciplines including nurses, physicians, midwives, social workers, psychologists, researchers, nutritionists, day care workers who are involved at every level of health care delivery and policy development.

The Goals of the Section are to:

  1. Keep the MCH Section membership informed about national legislation, budget issues and policy related to maternal and child health;

  2. Encourage the placement of MCH professionals into APHA policy positions;

  3. Submit on the behalf of the MCH Section timely and appropriate resolutions and position papers that are important and related to maternal and child health; and

  4.  Influence national policy development related to maternal and child health.
